Vibrant interiors

Rainbow-hued geometric interiors with eye-popping colour – playful splashes of emerald green, stripes and zigzags, sun-yellow and electric blue all set against a pale orange canvas. Jean Francois Adam, a Mauritian Architect and Camille Walala, a French tribal pop artist, travelled the island and got inspired by the deep blue skies, dreamy sunsets, green sugar cane fields and took inspiration from the colourful village houses to create an authentically local place which mixes well with the Mauritian heritage and modern culture.

Get to experience Mauritius with their daily activities

Become one with the community by immersing yourself in this unique skill swap concept. You can teach a skill in return for another skill or just ask to learn. Skills such as pottery, early morning fishing, basket weaving, cooking delicious Mauritian cuisine taught by the hotel chef or get involved in the SALT farm which is just next to the hotel.

If you fancy visiting the island, bikes can be borrowed or a car can be rented from the hotel. Other activities such as daily yoga and meditation, photography tours at sunrise and hiking are on the list there.

SALT Equilibrium Spa

Flee from your hectic lifestyle and get pampered at the Salt Equilibrium spa, the island’s first salt therapy room, where coloured lights seep through marbled Himalayan salt walls that released a stress-busting vapour. This salt vapour boosts your respiratory system, skin, immunity and energy levels – known as halotherapy, an ancient and natural treatment.  The spa has a choice of simple massages and scrubs, all featuring salt. Different salts bring different benefits. This spa will help you achieve the perfect harmony between mental, physical and spiritual balance while reconnecting with nature.

Sustainability is at the core of the hotel. They contribute to the protection and empowerment of local communities, creation of opportunity and employment and preservation of the environment via plastic-free, bio-farming and zero-waste policy. Their initiatives: television screens, buffets, single-use plastics are out while organic local products, natural toiletries, shelves of books, refillable water bottles are in – in line with the hotel’s ecological ethos. The hotel has the most eco-friendly rooms in Mauritius.

Connect with the Local

SALT new philosophy brings in the local community every step of the way and along the customer journey. With local makers creating the furniture, art, and finer details, the Mauritian influence comes through loud and clear. Handcrafted and locally designed ceramic pieces of tableware, weaved beach bags or rattan chairs, every detail in the hotel is intricately linked to the local culture and community. Salt also encourages its guests to get out to experience the island and its people. Climbing the Lion Mountain, take a street food tour of Port Louis, and even attend a rehearsal of Geet Gawai singers, who perform at Hindu singers – all bookable at the touch of an app.

SALT is for modern travellers who are culturally and environmentally curious, love to interact with the local community and seeks to discover the world by experiences.

SALT has given the island a new pulse.
